1. Purpose: The purpose of the job is to provide Slide Gate / VISO / Purging refractory design services. Furthermore, to provide technical support, primarily to end users as well as global Slide Gate / VISO / Purging refractory design team. This includes the design of refractory assemblies requested by Commercial Team via the RFC/RFD process. As well as cooperation with manufacturing plants and collaboration with materials Research and Development group. Furthermore, design of field trial assemblies utilizing the latest materials and innovative design methods. Ensuring execution of company product strategies. Cooperation with systems (mechanical) teams on refractory installation studies (stack’ups). Participate and support NPI Projects. Managing the workload to ensure priority schemes are being applied to the queue. 2. Direct Reports: No direct reports 3. Key Responsibilities: 1. Independently complete full spectrum of low and medium complexity design projects (3D modelling and drawings including bill of materials) basing on requested inputs. Contribute actively to highly complex design projects with support of more experienced engineer. Check and approve projects against original requirements. All that aforementioned by utilizing 3D modelling software and accompanying tools. Ensure communication channels functioning properly within department and beyond to achieve successful implementation of new, quality products. Follow departmental design procedures. 2. Continuously improve lead time for completion. Propose and support small-scale process improvements within the team or tools used. Review design work of junior engineers, ensuring alignment with departmental standards and customer requirements. 3. Supervise and expedite project work to ensure orderly progression through all departments. 4. Complete project work within specified time and according to company standards. Be able to fluently and effectively communicate with stakeholders around the world and take ownership of technical communication 5. Provide assistance in supporting and implementing ideation. Enhance product and application knowledge to develop new concepts and drive innovation. Understanding of commercial issues within different refractory product lines. Ensure communication channels are optimized utilizing collaboration tools successfully. 6. Utilize data management programs such as: Lotus Notes, Power-BI Sales Data, PDM, MDM Item Master. 7. Own specific procedures or documents and maintain departmental procedures, documents and training aids. 8. Support onboarding and technical guidance of junior engineers, sharing best practices and answering design-related questions. 9. Participate and support group safety culture as well as company CORE values and initiatives endeavouring continuous improvement. Experience 1. 2-5 years’ experience in technical, manufacturing, or related field preferred. 2. Knowledge of SolidWorks and PDM or equivalent 3D design software and data management programs Troubleshooting, design, and decision making related to product design and development. 3. Technical writing and documentation. 4. Knowledge of refractory materials and steel manufacturing process coupled with strong engineering skills and application awareness. 5. Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required for effective communication and documentation.
